Lesley is descended from a family of Showmen and has always had a great passion for the history and lore of Travelling Fairgrounds and Sideshows.
Karl is a Showman himself, creating spectacularly entertaining theatrical extravaganzas and so it was blessed fate that brought them together. They fell in love and chose to marry in a beautiful garden in the countryside very near Glyndebourne Opera House.
Lesley dressed in a little travellers van and emerged from this to the delight of their guests.
Peter created and conducted the Ceremony; at its heart Lesley and Karl’s shared interests. Their vows, which they wrote themselves, were said on the platform of a tree house (excellent pear juice every year from this old tree)!
A banquet was enjoyed, with homemade, organic food, and eaten outside, thank you to our English Weather for giving us this rare and beautiful day!
Lesley is the venue manager of The All Saints Centre in Lewes; she is responsible for facilitating community, arts and youth activities for the people of Lewes. This beautiful former ancient church was an obvious choice for the Evening Celebration of Karl and Lesley’s wedding. More guests poured through the door, some on stilts! Lesley’s brother played the Muppet Show theme on the heritage organ to get things started. A candle lighting ceremony was conducted by Peter and the couple danced and basked in the warmth and love of their family and friends. Alongside the eclectic entertainment performed by the couple’s friends, guests were treated to a fabulous outdoor firework display and the release of a paper sky-lanterns into the night sky.
Congratulations Karl and Lesley, may you share many happy years together, Peter is honoured to have been your Celebrant!
